Curva de Rodas and La Pradera landfills gain UNFCCC registration.

Green Gas International B.V. announces that its Curva de Rodas and La Pradera landfill projects near Medellin, Colombia became registered with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) on 6 February, 2009.

The Curva de Rodas landfill spreads over a total area of 73 hectares and contains approximately 8.5 million tonnes of solid waste. The site was operational from 1984 until its closure in 2003. The La Pradera landfill has been operational since 2003 and covers 25 hectares. Both landfill sites are the waste collection points for the metropolitan area of Medellin.

Both projects involve Green Gas in the capture and flaring of methane, in order to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the landfill sites.

The average annual emission reductions for both projects from 2009 to 2019 are estimated to be 160,437 tonnes CO2e.

The successful execution of both projects demonstrates Green Gas' ability to operate successfully in this region and further strengthens the company's credentials as a supplier of effective, fully integrated solutions.
